SWATOW WARE COLLECTION

Swatow ware or more recently referred to as Zhangshou ware is a common name for Ming Dynasty porcelains exported in the late 16th century period.

The name Swatow came from a regional port where these ceramics were exported from.  It is believed they were originally made in the Zhangzhou region.  Our collection of Swatow wares consists primarily of blue & white single / twin-phoenix motifs, some larger tri-coloured plates as well as bowls, jarlets and powder boxes.
